Discovering the Euganean Hills cycle ring ror an active and adventurous (and eco-friendly!) holiday.
Hop on your bike and explore the Euganean Hills along the E2, the cycle path that circles the perimeter of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.
At our hotel, we offer complimentary e-bikes and e-mountain bikes to our guests, so you can enjoy longer routes with less effort.
The route
You’ll have about 64 kilometers to admire the gentle slopes from every angle and visit charming villages, castles, churches, and historic villas.
The route follows several waterways that once served as the main transportation routes. It is mostly flat, with only a slight incline near Bastia as you head towards Mount Sereo.
The surface consists of paved sections and short gravel stretches, all easily navigable with mountain bikes, city bikes, or touring bikes.
The entire cycle path can be enjoyed year-round, though warmer seasons are the best times to appreciate the colors and scents of the Euganean Hills.
The itinerary in detail
Starting from our Esplanade Tergesteo – Luxury Retreat, we recommend heading clockwise. Begin by cycling toward Battaglia Terme, where you’ll immediately encounter the majestic Castello del Catajo, the former residence of the Obizzi family.
A bit further on is the town center of Battaglia Terme, home to the Museum of River Navigation.
As you follow the embankment along the canal of the same name, you’ll admire the hills on your right, glimpsing the impressive Villa Selvatico and, a little further on, Villa Emo with its classic Italian garden.
Next, you’ll reach Monselice (around 11 km from our hotel), a charming medieval town where you can visit Castello Cini, the Old Cathedral, and follow the Pilgrimage Route of the Seven Churches.
Continuing south, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of cultivated fields and the imposing walls of Este.
After passing through Este’s historic center and cathedral, your ride continues along the Bisatto Canal until you reach Cinto Euganeo, home to a former brickworks now housing the Cava di Bomba Geopaleontological Museum—a must-see for lovers of minerals and fossils.
The Southern section
The cycling route continues toward Mount Lozzo, where you’ll find the ancient Valbona Castle, then heads toward Vo’ Vecchio, home to Villa Contarini-Venier.
From here, the path takes you toward Bastia di Rovolon, following signs to Treponti, Praglia, and Montegrotto. The landscape is marked by endless vineyards, famous for their robust red wines and the aromatic Fior d’Arancio Moscato.
Returning to the Euganean spas
After passing Treponti di Teolo, you’ll reach the majestic and atmospheric Praglia Abbey, a site of great historical and spiritual importance.
Continue on the path for another 10 km through sunny fields to return to the hotel, where our thermal pools and wide range of rejuvenating massages await you—a well-earned reward after your day on two wheels.
